RIFT vs SWTOR... The clash of the updates...mmobk

Hey peeps, I was talking to someone a few days ago about mmos and stuff like that, which mmos are good, which one are bad, the biggest epic fails of all times and so on... It was a very long conversation and we almost end up shooting each other in *** game but in the end we manage to solve all the issues and we manage to agree in one thing...

I have to point out that time is very important because people have a limited amount of patience, if there is something wrong in the game and they see that the developers dont fix it, or the content of the game is kinda lacking and the devs dont fix it up in time, chances are that they are going to leave your game for something else that doesnt have all the issues or leave for something with the nice and sweet smell of new... lol!

Updates are very important in mmos...

Its even more important to release updates in a timely manner...

Look at swtor... (ps: I dont hate swtor, they just deserve all the crap sometimes)... The game was released without a bunch of basic features, not to mention all the issues. In general the game felt that it was cool to level up from 1 to 49 but after that the game was lacking the endgame content that keeps you in the game...

SWTOR is like a village crying for help, bandits are at the gate but if the army doenst get there in time!!! Chances are that the village is going to be burned to the ground and every villager is going to get killed...

Right now the game still lacks some key features but the main problem right now is that because the game was released in a very unpolished state... The critical mass is not there, the game population is experiencing some sort of suction. People dont want to play the game because it feels empty or because their friends are simply not there because they dont like certain lacking aspects of the game... You name the aspects...

The game was released in December 2011. That was around 6 months ago, the problem is that we only got 1 big update because 1.1 was a bit lackluster if you ask me... They are taking so much time releasing updates... They need to fix the game, the need to add more features, they need to add more content, they need to do it without bugs and they need to do it fast!!!! Otherwise the villagers are going to die... So if you are a fan of SWTOR, you better keep your fingers cross and hope that 1.3 (Allies) get to the village on time to save your neck...

On top of that the situation is not looking good... EA stock prices are dropping down... They are pulling the plug on some employees and they also said that swtor is not in their priority list...

Its very unfortunate that Trion is failing at one basic thing... They cant fix the friggin class balance once and for all, first the game was plagued by Rogues because Rogues used to be the uber class in the game, now the game is full of Warriors and maybe Rogues... I dont want to get into the details of that once again if you guys want more info in the matter just look around my blogs or search the internet, I could expend a whole day babbling about Rogues and how much I hate them and now about Warriors and how much I hate those and the friggin class imbalance in Rift...

The good news are that Trion said something about new souls!!! Lets see if they really manage to balance the game out in the new expansion lol! At least I have some hope with Rift... but not so much in SWTOR after all the delays and corporate drama...

Well, Rift is an older game, the game is how old??? 15 or 16 months??? Whatever... All I know is that they are releasing more updates per year, 8 big ass updates and one expansion in the making (Storm Legion) They are a smaller company with a smaller budget and yet they can deliver stuff in a timely manner... What the hell is going on in EA??? Oh I know... nvm!!! Greed!!!!!

That is something I really like about Rift, you get tire of the game and you can get back to check out the new stuff or the new event stage or whatever the heck Trion Worlds is doing in their game. I know the game is more of the same fantasy crap stuff we get in almost every game but as a developer Trion beats EA and Bio...

Which game is better... Well, it depends on your taste to be honest... but if you ask me Trion is a better company willing to work harder in their game, that is very important if you ask me because I dont want to play something that is a dead end because the developers no longer put tons of effort into it...

There is a difference between 'Good Enough' and just 'Good'... Sometimes the developer need to work an extra mile for free in their desks if they want to keep the player population happy and conserve their jobs. After all making games should be something that you do with passion and not just for the salary...

En Masse Entertainment has announced the release date for their new MMO Tera set to launch on May 1st, 2012. Tera is a beautiful new MMO with unique character races and twitched-based combat system. Where not only your moves but your accuracy accounts for your damage, being fast at dodging and rolling can assist you in avoiding your opponents attacks. There isn’t a lock on targeting system like in WoW or Everquest, so playing an archer is almost like playing a third-person shooter where you have to strafe and shoot. When you have your sights on a target you can stream moves into them, but you have to be quick and make sure you keep your eye on them. Buy Star Wars Credits，In Tera you can set up Skill Combos so that when you use a move it triggers another skill or move which you can hit the same hotkey and chain them together. Rather than having to fill up your keyboard with hotkeys you can essentially set up so each key can use a move one after another. This also strengthens moves and allows for unique interactions. Due to this En Masse is also allowing those who love counsel gaming to map their moves to Xbox controllers (and possibly support more, but haven’t released more details on it yet).

Tera looks like a fresh faced paced MMO that will be a nice change of pace for those looking for a new style of combat. While still maintaining core PvE group experiences and extending that into large scale balanced PvP scenarios. My only concern is while briefly looking over the race specific bonuses they seem to be very inconsistant and almost to specific to either PvE or PvP to be balanced. For example the Aman receive “Stranger to Pain”: When under 30% HP, all damage taken is reduced by 10%. Along with “Blood of Dragons”: Resistance to DoT effects is increased by 10. Which is overall, amazing. While the Elin race only can swim faster and gather plants faster than other races. Then there are the races that have almost too specific bonuses such as the humans who take less PvP damage when under 30% HP (which everyone who pvps will take either Aman or Humans). And Barakas who’s Stamina does not fall below 20% while adventuring (assuming PvE). Hopefully these are rebalanced before launch, otherwise it will be more of a race war when it comes to specific activities. We will see if this is addressed, otherwise we will still have a solid MMO in the wake of WoW, Eve, SwTor, and soon to be D3.

Buy Star Wars Credits，The game currently is in it’s Beta testing and is four patches deep. They are continuing to work on balancing the beginning questing experience. This also includes balancing the world PvP. Those griefing will be marked with an Outlaw marking (Infamy points that deteriate over time) which notifies other players to engage in PvP with them. Tera also has the unique guild vs guild pvp setting where you can wage a 24 hour war against another guild for rankings and riches (it costs 30,000g to declare war to begin with).

Tera’s release date draws closer hour by hour, day by day, and we are approx 48 hours away from the release of this new MMO that is aiming to win the attention of MMO gamer’s everywhere. With it’s twitch-based combat and beautiful graphics it has been on our radar for a couple of months now. But any game with a great combat system, beautiful graphics, solid social networking, and customizable characters can still fall short with the end game content. So what does Tera have to offer once you finally cap your character at level 60?Buy SWTOR Credits，

Like many of it’s MMO predecessors Tera will have large scale boss fights that will require only small groups of 3 to 5 people to complete. Once you manage to conquer an instance and gear out you can then begin attempting the game’s six beginning “Hard-mode” dungeons. Which are the end game dungeons but each with a different twist from the normal dungeon crawl. One Hard-mode released is the Temple of Temerity; which has your group working on surviving and protecting a relic while mobs of enemies storm out of gates near the artifact. Buy SWTOR Credits，Every 4-6 waves a boss will spawn with additional boss rooms opening as you progress through the 20 minute slaughter of enemies. In addition to being able to choose your instances at level 60, you can choose to queue up for the Nexus, a large scale server instance where you are grouped up with gamers that are of similar gear. Upon completing these tasks the group as a whole receives awards and achievements. In the PvP aspects currently there is only open world PvP, set deathmatches, and large scale deathmatches that are guild vs. guild in scale.Buy SWTOR Credits， After level 11, on a PvP server, you can flag yourself for PvP where you are eligible to go into combat with anyone else who is flagged for combat. If you have a group of 5 or 10 and feel like duking it out you can set up a deathmatch of a 5v5, 10v10, or 5v1 match in open grounds. Tera is allowing players to put their money with their mouth is by letting you wager bets on your character on kills or damage during the deathmatch. In the large scale pvp Tera offers guild vs guild deathmatches which cost 30k gold to declare war and last 24 hours. Ending either when the time runs out, a guild scores a set amount of points, or a guild leader forfeit’s. A guild can be in war with up to 3 other guilds at a time. Winning a war nets, Tera Gold, items, bragging rights, and achievements, Buy SWTOR Credits，and is a very exciting new aspect I can’t wait to participate in.

Tera is definitely a game to keep your eye on for this next upcoming month and is on the course to be the next big contending MMO.

LOTRO's Riders of Rohan Expansion Rides Into Beta with a New Trailer

Saddle up, folks! Lord of the Rings Online launches the closed beta of its latest expansion, Riders of Rohan, later today.
